It all started with this one simple idea: an emoji is a contemporary symbol that connects humanity’s subconsciousness.

Divided into part1 and part2, Emoji project explores Jungbom’s subconscious as well as her sense of presence in the physical and spiritual world.

Part 1, Contemporary Symbolism, studies Jungbom’s personal symbols in her relations in the physical world while attempting to find the perfect balance and peace within herself. Part 2, Emoji Offering, illustrates her offerings to the higher self or/ and to the God. It is her visual affirmation and prayer. Combining images of artifacts from online museum collections with colors and emojis in Photoshop, she explores her subconscious mind as she intuitively creates each work.

Digging through the collection of history and bringing them back to digital space, repurposing images and emojis to create digital offerings, it is her visual language that expresses perspectives on her universe, honoring spiritual beings, listening to the inner voice, and the role of digital world in spirituality.
